Established in the year 1984, the department operates with a vision to enhance the quality of life of rural people through meaningful and sustained rapport between the institute and rural communities by catering to the educational needs, augmenting income, counseling, population education of rural communities and action research. The thrust areas include teaching, training, research, life long learning programme, on campus / off campus programmes and population education.
